A Customer Success Story from Northern Dock Systems

Project Overview

Griffith Foods was concerned with a visible white light showing through their old dock shelter. Consequently, causing a potential threat of rodents entering their facility, which is a major audit issue. In addition, they were concerned with safety as water, snow and ice was entering through the gap and building up on their docks insides. Furthermore, the gaps were causing an energy loss due to the poor seal.

With food safety, rodent issues and energy loss being primary concerns, they contacted Northern Dock Systems to create the tightest seal possible for their loading dock. The foam frame dock shelter uses memory core foam sides to create a weathertight seal, which prevents food contamination while saving energy.

  • Rain-Stop dock canopy accommodates varied trailer heights
  • Model: Rain-Stop dock canopy
  • Rain-Stop trailer top canopy

However, in order to create the tightest seal possible, we added terminator gap seals to the dock shelter. These seals wrap around the trailer to prevent white light from entering from the gaps between the hinges on the door.

Furthermore, the rain-stop dock canopy prevents water from running along the trailer top and coming down onto the docks. By preventing this, it reduces slipping and safety hazards for workers and protects the food from getting contaminated.

With their new dock shelters from NDS, Griffith Foods is able to pass their food audit inspections without fear of rodents and provide safety for their product and workers.
