A Summary of the Issues
Cold air infiltrated Kirchhoff Automotive’s facility in Aurora, Ontario since they would leave their dock doors open for an extended period of time. The cold drafts negatively affected the indoor comfort and productivity of their employees, cooling down the shipping area as well as the production area while their dock doors remained open.
The Solution and Results
After conducting a full facility audit at Kirchhoff Automotive, Northern Dock Systems recommended and installed three Durashield DS-96 air barrier units from Enershield and facilitated energy rebates with their local utility company to help decrease their energy consumption while helping to solve their cold air infiltration issue.Enershield Air Barriers helped Kirchhoff Automotive to enhance indoor comfort for their employees in the shipping and production areas by creating a strong environmental separation, sealing the doorway by up to 90% while their dock doors remained open. With the open doorway sealed even during extended periods of time, the air barriers effectively kept the cold air outdoors, allowing Kirchhoff Automotive’s employees to remain productive throughout the day.
