A Scarborough grocery store was visited by the Ministry of Labor Inspector and Engineer to complete an overall compliance and safety inspection. As part of the review, a safety concern was identified. The undersides of two surface-mounted lift tables were open and accessible to staff when the tables were raised during receiving. The Ministry of Labour provided the store with six weeks to research, propose and execute a solution.

This grocery store reach out to NDS to provide a simple and easy-to-use solution that would comply with the Ministry of Labour’s standards. NDS supplied two custom designed manually operated barrier swing gates. These barrier swing gates were designed to fit inside of the openings in the existing fence. The new gates will protect the opening, prevent access onto and/or under the lift tables and fully comply with the Ministry of Labour’s standards.
