Project Overview

How Tango International Transformed Their Drive‑Thru Operations with Industrial Air Curtains

When Tango International first reached out to Northern Dock Systems, their team had a clear challenge: the two large 12′ x 14′ drive‑thru sectional doors at their Mississauga facility were letting in far more than just vehicles. Every time the doors opened, waves of cold air, dust and exhaust drifted in. Energy bills spiked during the winter months, and maintaining a consistent indoor temperature felt like a losing battle.

They needed a solution, one that was reliable, industrial‑grade, and capable of protecting their environment without slowing the flow of daily operations.
That’s where the Industrial Direct Drive Air Curtain (IDC14) came in.

A Facility That Feels Different the Moment You Step Inside

Two industrial air curtains were chosen for their durability, 14‑ft mounting height, and direct‑drive power suited for busy industrial spaces. Our technicians anchored brackets into the concrete and stacked each air curtain securely, finishing with remote wall‑mounted controls for simple, unobtrusive operation. Once activated, a steady, nearly invisible air barrier immediately covered each opening.

With the air curtains running, the drive‑thru area changed instantly. Cold drafts vanished, employees near the doors stayed warm, and dust, exhaust, and insects were kept outside. The heating system finally maintained consistent temperatures—even during peak activity—creating a noticeably cleaner, calmer, and more controlled workspace.

Energy Rebates & Energy Savings for Air Curtains

While the comfort improvements were immediate, the financial impact was just as impressive.

Through available energy‑efficiency programs, 95% of the project cost was covered through a one‑time rebate, making the upgrade an incredibly low‑cost investment for Tango International. With the air curtain’s ability to reduce heat loss and stabilize indoor temperatures, the facility now saves an estimated $2,876 every year in energy costs.

And with such a small out‑of‑pocket expense, the project delivers a strong 0.43 year ROI (Return on Investment). A rare combination of comfort, efficiency, and financial gain.

A Smart Upgrade That Continues Paying Off

What began as a need to solve drafts and temperature swings has now become one of Tango International’s smartest operational improvements. Their drive‑thru doors can open freely without compromising indoor conditions, employee comfort has risen, and the facility operates more efficiently every single day.

For Tango International, this wasn’t just an equipment installation, it was an investment in a cleaner, safer, and more cost‑effective workplace.
