Project Overview

Upgrading Food Facility Dock Safety at Food Manufacturing Plant in Beamsville, ON

Northern Dock Systems recently completed another dock equipment upgrade at a leading food processing facility in Beamsville, Ontario. This project marks the second vertical dock leveler replacement at the site, following a previous installation on the far-right dock last year.

Completing Another Critical Dock Upgrade

With three dock positions on-site, our team was tasked with replacing the far left vertical storing dock leveler. As with all food-grade applications, precision and planning were key.

Before installation began, our technician verified all measurements and electrical requirements, ensuring a smooth installation process and eliminating the risk of delays during commissioning.

Another Step Toward Safer, Cleaner Loading Operations

The project included:

The new dock system was designed to meet the facility’s operational and sanitation needs:

  • Hydraulic Vertical Dock Leveler: Super Capacity
  • Size: 6’ W x 6’ L
  • Pit Dimensions: 75” W x 57.5” L x 10.75” D
  • Shallow pit configuration: 72” W x 10.5” D
  • Remote power pack mounted on the wall (left-hand side), suspended above floor level
  • Blue Genius control panel replacement (left-hand side)
  • 115V Single-phase electrical connection

Why Vertical Dock Levelers Are Ideal for Food Facilities

Vertical storing dock levelers are a leading solution for food processing and cold storage environments. By storing the leveler in an upright position, facilities gain several important benefits:

  • Improved Sanitation: The vertical design keeps the pit clear of debris, making it easier to clean and maintain strict hygiene standards.
  • Enhanced Pest Control: With the leveler stored upright and the door able to close tightly at the pit floor, facilities reduce entry points for rodents and insects.
  • Increased Energy Efficiency: A tighter seal at the dock opening minimizes air infiltration, helping maintain temperature control and reduce energy costs.
  • Easier Washdowns: Clear access to the pit area allows for faster, more effective washdowns, critical for meeting food safety audit requirements.

A Continued Partnership in Facility Improvement

This project reflects this Beamsville food manufacturing plant’s ongoing investment in safe, sanitary, and efficient loading dock operations. By upgrading to modern vertical dock systems, the facility is better equipped to meet strict food industry standards while improving day-to-day performance.

At Northern Dock Systems, we continue to support food-grade facilities across Ontario with solutions that enhance safety, efficiency, and compliance.
